Deserts and Romans Tour

Alrwasi For Travel & Tourism present you a longest tour towards the great desert,during this trip you should realize that you are visiting an area less visited than the South pole .With us you  will see the most beautiful prehistoric cave paintings along the great Libyan Sahara Desert, with its infinity, its variety in landscape, huge expanses of rock worn smooth by wind, oasis of pure water and enormous sand dunes.

Day 1: Tripoli / Nalut / Ghadames:

Meet guide at Tripoli and Start of this desert adventure towards Ghadames passing by Nalut, located on an escarpment reached by a series of hairpin bends, is the site of a fascinating grain store, some 300 years old, and offers a beautiful panorama of the plain below. The grain store, comprising hundreds of chambers, was used by families to store oil and grain under the watchful eye of a guardian. Continue to Ghadames for two nights at Hotel.

Day 2: Ghadames

Sightseeing in the unique and enchanting oasis of Ghadames on the edge of the Sahara desert. Visit the old town with its labyrinthine passages and take lunch in a richly decorated traditional house. Late afternoon excursion to watch the sun set over the sand dunes; on the way, we visit the ruins of Qasr al-Ghoul (Castle of the Ghost), allegedly the remains of an old Roman fort, where the local inhabitants succumbed to a siege during the Arab conquest of Libya in the 7th century AD.

Day3 :Ghadames /El guariate /Eshouref / Sebha

We cross the giant sand dunes and discover the beautiful area of El Guariate and Eshouiref and continue towards Sebha  diner and overnight at hotel

Day4:Sebha/Germa/Akakus: Ghadames                                                                                     

Drive to   Akakus passing through  Germa when we will , visit the museum and the remains of the ancient Garamantian warrior civilisation. Then we will camp in Akakus for diner and

Day 5 / Day 6: Akakus:

Exploration of the Akakus with its spectacular scenery and rock art dating back thousands of years, and its spectacular scenery and millennia-old rock art we camp each night wherever our guide takes us on this exhilarating four-wheel drive adventure.

Day 7: Akakus / Messak / Matkhendoush:

Drive towards Matkhendoush passing trough Messak .Arrival in Matkhendoush  we will visit the ancient temple site of Wadi Mathendoush, festooned with petroglyphs depicting animals that once roamed the area such as crocodile, elephant and giraffe. Wild camping in Ramla area.

Day 8:  Ramla / Lakes / Sebha   :

 Drive to discover the beautiful salty lakes : Um Al Ma - Mandara - Mafou and Gabroun, camping in this area, a world of wonders, serenity, dreams and fascination. Diner and overnight in hotel at Sebha.

Day 9: Sebha / Gharyane  :

Full day's drive north to Gharyan.diner and overnight at hotel.

Day 10: Gharyan / Leptis-Magna / Tripoli

Excursion to Leptis Magna, arguably the finest and best preserved Roman city in the world. Originally founded by the Phoenicians in the 10th Century BC, it survived the attention of Spartan colonists, became a Punic city and eventually part of the new Roman province of Africa around 23 BC. As a Roman city it prospered, boasting Emperor L Septimius Severus as one of its sons and benefactors.  Continue to Tripoli.

Day 11: Tripoli / Sabratha / Tripoli:

Drive to Sabratha for excursion in this  Roman city  with its remarkable Colonnaded Theatre. Settled in the late 5th/early 6th century BC by the Phoenicians, Sabrata's development as a Roman city began in the latter half of the 1st century AD. It reached its zenith in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, particularly during the reign of Septimus

Severus, who was born in nearby Leptis Magna. The most spectacular site in Sabrata is the Theatre, probably built during the reign of the Emperor Commodus (161-192 AD), with its three-storey backdrop of columns.  In the afternoon we return
